About Us

The Brazos Runners Club is a non-profit organization that supports the local running community. Each year the club offers a 16 week training program for individuals interested in running the BCS half or full marathon. In addition, a 6-week pre-training program helps both new and experienced runners get prepared. Weekly activities include track practice (Monday evenings), a tempo run (Wednesday evenings) and a long run (Saturday mornings). The club is the official running club of the BCS Marathon+Half Marathon and BCS Oktoberfest Half Marathon+10k

Lore (or…Why is the club called ‘Boat of Fools’?)

A long time ago in a galaxy far away….No, I’m just kidding. The Brazos Runners Group was founded by members of one of Austin’s running groups, the Ship of Fools. Our club is based off the Ship’s organization and since BRC is a bit smaller, members started calling our group the ‘Boat of Fools’ in deference to the club we’re based on. Also, it’s a great conversation starter and lets us have some cool shirts.
